Problems That Require Drain Cleaning

You probably don’t think about your drains too much, but it’s still important that you get the right professional services for them on a regular basis. If you don’t maintain your drains, you’re setting yourself up for all kinds of problems in the future. Let’s take a look at some of the more common problems that can need to be dealt with using drain cleaning.

Roots

This problem tends to afflict your sewer line where it runs under your property on the way to the septic tank or sewer main. Tree root structures can spread far and wide underneath the visible portion of it. They’re constantly expanding in search of new water sources, and if a root comes into contact with the sewer line it often will grow into it. Once the root has punctured the sewer line, it will continue to grow and spread until it completely clogs up the pipe. The roots will need to be cut out of the line to restore it to proper function.

Lime Scale

Hard water is water with a high level of magnesium and calcium particles in it. As the water flows through the pipe, it deposits small amounts of the minerals on the walls. These deposits eventually build up into lime scale, which slowly restricts the flow of water through the pipe as it builds towards the center. If this problem isn’t dealt with, the lime scale will harden and become impossible to remove without damaging the pipe. Annual drain cleaning is required to protect your pipes if you know that you have a hard water issue in your area.
