Call For Plumbing Repairs if You Notice These Symptoms

Pipe-LeakingPlumbing systems are built to last, but that doesn’t mean that they’re immune to problems. There are still plenty of ways for your plumbing system to run into trouble over the years, which you’re unlikely to notice unless you know what to look for. Fortunately for you, we’ve outlined some of the more common signs that your plumbing system might be experiencing issues below. If you notice any of these signs in your own system, make sure that you call for repairs as soon as you can.

Unusual Spikes in Water Bills

If your monthly water bills start to go up faster than you think they should from month to month, it might be because you have a leak in your system. After all, the water that a leak diverts out of your plumbing system still needs to be paid for, even if you’re not the one using it. A leak large enough to start substantially impacting your monthly water bills is bound to be a large one, so you should call for repairs as soon as you can.

Limescale

A common problem for areas with hard water, limescale is a kind of mineral deposit that forms on the inside of your pipes over time. As the deposits build up more and more, they begin to restrict the flow of water through them. This obviously reduces the overall efficiency of your system quite a bit. If the limescale isn’t removed in time, it will harden and become nearly impossible to get rid of without repiping the entire area. Trust us when we say you don’t want to deal with that. The best thing to do is call for repairs if you notice a white, chalky film in your sink or shower. That’s limescale, and if it’s in those areas it’s almost certainly in your pipes.

Falling Water Pressure

Another common indication of either leaks or limescale buildup is dropping water pressure. If your water pressure is noticeably dropping, there is either something restricting it (limescale) or you have a leak diverting increasing amounts of water from the system. Either way, it’s something that you should have dealt with sooner rather than later.

Visible Water Damage

Unfortunately, sometimes there are leaks that manage to go unnoticed until they have the opportunity to cause water damage to the area around them. If you happen to notice water damage anywhere in your home, it’s important that you call a professional as soon as you can to deal with it. The issue will only get worse if it’s left alone, and it’ll end up costing you more to repair the longer you wait. Better to just have it fixed as soon as you can.
